Do you drink liquid calories (other than protein shakes and sports drinks during, or immediately a workout)? If so list which ones and let us know what changes you are willing to make related to this nutrition habit to support your fitness and athletic goals. If you currently don't consume these things regularly then let us know how you cut these out in the past and why.

I do not drink liquid calories. I pretty much drink only water. I have gotten to the point to where it hurts my stomach to drink any sodas and sometimes even Gatorade because of the amount of sugar. I drink a gallon of water every single day to stay hydrated. I know that I am a leader in this category and will be helping others to eliminate liquid calories from their diet.

Ryan, glad to hear you are already on board with avoiding liquid sugar. Next time you see one of these other guys downing a coke, or some juice, grab it out of their hand and trash it. You are already ahead of the game here so just hold tight and we will all catch up to you soon so that you have something to work on. Great Job!

Before we started this competition, I never really drank liquid calories other than gatorade. Gatorade and water have always made up my diet. But now that I know gatorade can be THAT bad for you, I've stopped drinking it. I really think this program is going to help out a lot because I've actually noticed a difference from just drinking water, it really does feel much better. My goal is to stay on only water, and I'm determined to make that happen!

Before we started this program, I drank some liquid calories. Many in Gatorade and lots of sweet tea, but never really any soda. I have had times in the past years where I will go a month or 2 with only drinking water, and when I have done that I noticed that I feel better and I just feel healthier. So I know that this will be good to cut out liquids calories. My goal is to keep this streak going, and hopefully get to a point where I don't even want to drink liquids calories anymore! Can't wait to see some results!
Oh and btw guys..... I was with Corey earlier, and he bought sweet tea.....

I drink gatorades all the time. Giving that up is going to be tough. I will have to replace it with some good ol fashioned water.

Alright guys. great changes so far on this habit. Water is a great choice, but can sometimes get boring so remember the following alternatives are ok as well for variety sake: 1. homemade lemon-limeade (water + lemon/lime juice + stevia or Just like sugar- get some of this Just Like Sugar stuff as you really cant tell the difference between this and sugar and it has 10 proven health benefits) 2. Tea with just like sugar or stevia (no need to give up the tea but use stevia or just like sugar instead of real sugar). 3. Diluted Juice (3 parts water to 1 part juice)
Corey, where you really drinking a DP? if so then do know that this is essentially liquid fat. In fact, soft drinks (which are sweetened with fructose vs. sucrose (i.e. table sugar) is just one chemical reaction from being converted to fat. Plus it negatively impacts your body and promotes insulin resistance. Tastes good, but not worth the cost!
Josh, i know you can give up the gatorade. At best go with Powerade Zero, or get the G2 gatorade and dilute with water. As noted, gatorade has as much sugar in it as a soft drink. The only time you need to be having this is during, or immediately following a very intense workout, or during a game in once you are going non stop and not riding the pine.
Lawson, how are you doing? Guys...I need you to put some positive peer pressure on lawson and even if he is on track make sure he jumps on here and reads post and replies.
Ryan, keep on top if these guys!

-Corey wasn't really drinking a DP yesterday! I was just messin with him! -I'll talk to Lawson tonight. He usually cant do anything without his mamma.
-I learned quite a bit in these past lessons about insulin and growth hormone! I find it very interesting. I understand that sugary liquids can decrease the way insulin functions. When the body recieves too much sugar, insulin cannot use the protein as efficiently for the muscles and ends up converting a lot of the nutrients that are put into your body into stored fat. With a high intake sugar diet, the amount of growth hormone, which produces lean muscle mass, is decreased. Also, lack of sleep decreases the amount of produced growth hormome.(This is something that I need to work on) Over all I have learned the effect that a high sugar diet will increase fat production and not allow you to get swoll!

-I will txt Lawson in just a little bit!
I have been learning a lot from our lessons every day! And it has been helping me stay motivated. From this past lesson I have learned that growth hormones and insulin is what helps out body build muscle, makes our bones stronger, and decreases the amount of fat the is produced. And I now know that liquid surgery beverages decreases the amount of theses hormones that are produced. It make me not want to even touch a soft daring knowing that it is going to just be converted to fat. And I need to work on getting me sleep because I know that more sleep equals more growth hormones. I'm glad I got to learn this and look forward to learning a lot more.

I have learned a lot from our lessons in the past few days! Today, I learned that insulin is the muscle building hormone, and when you drink liquid calories, it turns the insulin into a fat-burning hormone that prevents you from putting on muscle. This is starting to make a lot more sense now because before, I never realized how much liquid calories could affect you. I also learned that getting more sleep contributes to the production of your growth hormones. This is really helpful to know because I'm not a type of person that would go to bed early often! The past few lessons have motivated me to stop drinking liquid calories for good, because you never know how much it really affects you. I look forward to being able to stay on task, an all water diet seems very beneficial!
Oh and by the way, don't listen to them! Lol, they're only trying to mess with me. I've been on a straight water diet for about a week now, I'm not gonna throw that away for one DP! I'm looking forward to working with this, thanks!
